Another game which still doesn’t get enough respect is Turok, released in 2008 for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.
Though it was considered a commercial success, it only received mixed or average review scores. Many reviewers picked on some minor graphical flaws or inconsistent enemy AI, which is a shame because this game is a blast to play.
It’s another FPS but, along with the usual enemy soldiers, you also have to deal with a local population of hostile dinosaurs. As a result, there is a good variation in gameplay and weaponry, and it’s all held together with a decent storyline.
The 2008 release Turok is actually the last in a series of Turok games, dating all the way back to 1997. This may have been part of the problem, as nostalgia and newer editions of games don’t seem to make happy bedfellows. On top of this, the initial stages of the game may not be that inspiring, but if you continue playing, it really gets going and ends with a thrilling (but tough!) boss battle.
So, again, pay no attention to the negative reviews on this one. Check it out and stick with it through to the end ‒ you won’t regret it!
