Next on our list is Bionic Commando (2009) for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.
Although it received decent review scores, we think it deserves more praise. We sometimes forget that video games are about fun and Bionic Commando is exactly that. As a third-person action-adventure game there is plenty of shooting, but the main gameplay mechanic is based on the protagonist Nathan Spencer’s bionic arm, which he uses both to swing around the maps and also as a weapon.
It takes a little time to master the bionic arm but once you do it’s great fun flying through the varied levels and throwing both objects and enemies around.
Apart from one or two small graphical glitches, the game looks great and there is a good sense of perspective as you swing from one grapple point to the next. The voice acting, with Faith No More’s Mike Patton lending his voice to Spencer, is also nicely done.
So, overall, if you want a fun game with a decent story, then give this a shot – you should be able to pick it up at a very reasonable price.
